Description

OREON silver bangle, Slim Cuff is made in Sterling Silver and Irish rose Gold. Irish Gold Jewelry is exclusive to House of Lor, under license.

Inspiration for the OREON Collection is the Dry Stone Walls of the West of Ireland. A dry stone wall is built with only stones and nothing else. It does not need mortar or cement to stand and have structural integrity.

Dry Stone Walls are very common throughout Ireland but are associated with the West of Ireland where they proliferate the rural landscape. A dry stone wall will absorb light in places and will cast shadows across the stone in the wall therefore giving the impression of being more three dimensional than the solid masonry wall. The OREON Bangle’s shapes are impressions of the stone shapes used in the construction of Dry Stone Walls.

The building of dry stone walls is a long-standing rural-farming tradition dating back to the Neolithic Period here (5,000 years ago). There was also a time professional dry stone ‘Wallers’ travelled through the country, as well as over and back from Ireland to England, Scotland and Wales. Many walls on estates and larger farms were built by these skilled craft workers as far back as the medieval period. Common stones used in Ireland include limestone, granite and sandstone.

House of Lor is a unique collection of Irish Jewelry, which contains an exclusive piece of Pure Irish Gold at the heart of every design. The Irish Gold is exclusive to House of Lor under license from the Galantas Mining Corporation, based in County Tyrone.
